The San Andreas Department of Public Safety has a variety of subdivisions that State Troopers and Auxiliaries may participate in. Each subdivision has its own expertise and entry requirements. In order to apply to any subdivision, you must be at minimum the rank of Trooper.

Bureau of Special Operations (BSO)
The SADPS BSO also conducts joint operations with local departments to investigate, apprehend and therefore prevent the movement of illicit items throughout their respective jurisdictions. Our three teams - Investigations, Enforcement and Canine - work in unison to ensure the effectiveness of every operation, from start to finish. The Bureau of Special Operations mission is to provide premier operational intelligence, investigative services in an effort to be recognized as the most comprehensive, professional, and effective investigative entity and service partner to the many other Law Enforcement Agencies in the State of San Andreas. All investigative services are conducted in a professional and unbiased manner.

DEPARTMENT HIERARCHY
A chain of command ultimately creates accountability and provides proper avenues of communication. This ensures the smooth execution of operations on a daily basis. When the Chain of Command is used properly, it is both simple and effective. All orders, commands, and instructions should be issued through the chain of command. The formal definition of a chain of command is an official hierarchy of authority that dictates who is in charge of whom and of whom permission must be asked. In layman's terms, every rank within the Chain of Command is assigned duties and is expected to follow them. The goal of Section 1 is to outline the San Andreas State Patrol’s Chain of Command to help employees understand who they should seek help from in a variety of situations.

Expectations
Troopers of the Department of Public Safety are held to the same standards, no matter their position or rank within the department. The expectations are set high and adhering to them is strictly enforced. These expectations are Professionalism, Integrity, Quality, and Effort. These values are the core of any SADPS Trooper and failure to adhere to them can result in Disciplinary Action. These Expectations are to be upheld at all times, both on and off duty, and failure to do so is considered grounds for removal. The Commissioner has made his position clear. Every person who is a Trooper, Reserve Trooper, or Recruit of the Department of Public Safety is an Ambassador of the SADPS. Your actions do not solely represent yourself but your brothers and sisters of the blue line, and the department that you call home. The next time you brush off these core values of the SADPS, remember. You're brushing off everything you and the Department of Public Safety, your family, has worked and will continue to work for.
